If you are a biker you have probably heard of the Capital Crescent Trail. This bike trailed extends from Georgetown, DC to Montgomery County, MD. Though this is not solely a bike trail, you can enjoy smaller sections on foot.

Like many of the best trails in our country, the Capital Crescent Trail used to be a railroad track. This gives the trail a nice and easy grade for beginning bikers, as well as expert ones with kids. The trail is about 11 miles long, stating at the Georgetown, Baltimore, Ohio Railroad crossings.

Most of the trail of made of asphalt and easy gravel so you can take your mountain, road, or hybrid bike for different sections of the trail. The great thing about this trail if you don’t mind the crowds is that there is a huge variety of what types of people use the trail. The trail is actually used for recreational use as well as for commuters, so you can meet many interesting people.

As for views, there are some interesting tunnels, woods, and bridges that give you a great opportunity for pictures. The Potomac River follows the trail most of the way. If you want a calm afternoon of biking this is the perfect trail. There are bathrooms, water fountains, and picnic tables to make this an easy time.
