Beach Bike Rides

As a longtime lover of biking on Hilton Head Island, I must say that one of our favorite things to do is take the bikes on the beach and ride for miles. This is a really great option for people who have kids because there are no cars and the only things to avoid, on most days, are sea gulls.

The beach is really awesome for bike rides as it stretches for miles and has a really great consistency. The sand, most of the time, isn't very soft during low tide so there is a huge amount of land for biking. The harder sand makes it an easier bike ride and you can really just go for forever.

There's plenty of wildlife to see along the beach as well, whether it's crustaceans or birds or even dolphins, it's all visible. There's a specific point just past the water tower in Sea Pines where the dolphins play in the tides as the sound meets the Atlantic. It's so cool to watch them and they're so close to shore!

The one thing to be careful of is not riding into the wind first and then with it on the way back. It's really easy to ride with the wind at first and then turn around to bike back and have the kids say they can't do it. Not cool at all.
