We've been going to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina for the past 20 years now and have always enjoyed the bike trails across the island. Since we've been going to the Island, it's been really cool to see the paths outside of the plantations expand.
As the majority of our trips have been to Sea Pines, we are the most familiar with those. All of the kids in my family have all learned to ride bikes on the beaches of Hilton Head and have taken our first wobbly rides on the paths of the Plantation. One of our favorite rides is the back way to South Beach. The back ride to South Beach takes you by a lot of the holes for one of the many golf courses. In addition, it goes by ponds with alligators. One of the ponds has a huge old tree that is just filled with birds near sunset. Another plus of the back way is the presence of deer. While they are not as common as they used to be, deer still frequently make an appearance on or near the trail.
The mark of a good trip to Hilton Head is not using the car. Thanks to the bike paths, it's totally possible.
